Reparenting Your Inner Child

A gentle, seven-lesson audio course to help you heal old patterns, regulate your nervous system, and meet yourself with the care you’ve always deserved.

Becoming Your Own Parent

Through heartfelt and down-to-earth guidance, this course helps you reconnect with the youngest parts of yourself — and begin showing up with the kind of compassion you may have missed growing up.

Blending therapeutic insight, nervous system wisdom, and real-life reflections, this seven-lesson journey invites you to become the steady, loving presence you once needed. If you often feel anxious, triggered, low, or simply worn out from holding everything together, these gentle teachings offer practical ways to shift long-held survival patterns and build a deeper sense of safety from within.

You’ll be guided through the three core pillars of reparenting — nurturing, protection, and play — and learn how to recognise when your inner child is activated, respond with care instead of shame, and tend to the needs you’ve spent years minimising or ignoring. This is about slowly, steadily offering yourself the kind of love, safety, and encouragement that builds a more regulated nervous system — and a more rooted sense of self.

A Peek Inside Each Lesson

Lesson 1: Why Heal Your Inner Child?

In an ideal world, childhood would have given us everything we needed to grow into confident, well-rounded adults. But for many of us, stress, trauma, or unmet emotional needs quietly shaped how we move through the world today.

Now, as adults, we’re often left wondering why we feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck.
If you’ve ever asked yourself why certain behaviours or emotional patterns keep looping — even after all your efforts to change — this lesson will help you understand the root causes, and introduce a more compassionate, nervous system-informed way forward.

Lesson 2: Nurturing: Learning to Listen to Your Needs

Somewhere along the way, many of us internalised the belief that our needs were too much. As adults, we still carry that imprint — pushing through hunger, ignoring exhaustion, struggling to slow down.

In this lesson, you’ll explore the first pillar of reparenting: nurturing. You’ll learn why meeting your needs can feel uncomfortable or even selfish, and how to begin offering small, meaningful acts of care that restore safety, rebuild inner trust, and quietly remind you:Your needs are not a burden.
You are worthy of care — without needing to earn it.

Lesson 3: Protection: Boundaries That Honour Your Nervous System

As children, some of us weren’t protected in the ways we needed—emotionally, physically, or energetically. We might’ve absorbed the message that our discomfort didn’t matter, or that keeping others happy was more important than feeling safe. Now, we struggle to notice when we’re overwhelmed or overstimulated.

In this lesson, we explore the second pillar of reparenting: protection. You’ll learn how to set boundaries that honour your nervous system, gently shift away from what drains you, and rebuild the powerful truth: your safety matters. You’re allowed to say, “That’s enough.”

Lesson 4: Play: Reclaiming Joy and Aliveness

Many of us had to grow up too fast. Play was discouraged, dismissed, or made to feel unsafe — so it’s no wonder that, as adults, joy can feel unfamiliar or even threatening. In this lesson, we explore the third pillar of reparenting: play. Not as a luxury, but as a vital way of reconnecting with aliveness, creativity, and regulation. You’ll learn how play helps shift your nervous system out of survival mode and awaken parts of you that have been buried under perfectionism, pressure, and pain. This is about remembering you’re allowed to feel good.

Lesson 5: Comfort or Numbing? Learning the Difference

We all seek comfort — but sometimes the ways we try to soothe ourselves quietly disconnect us from the very feelings we need to process. In this lesson, you’ll explore the line between true comfort and numbing, and why your nervous system can’t heal if it’s constantly being pushed into shutdown or escape. You’ll learn how to identify numbing patterns with compassion, not shame — and how to choose small, nourishing actions that actually bring relief and reconnection. This is about moving from avoidance to safety. From “I just need to switch off” to “I deserve to feel held.”

Lesson 6: The Grief That Rises

Reparenting isn’t all soothing and self-care. Sometimes, when we start offering ourselves the love and safety we always needed, grief floods in. In this lesson, we explore why grief is not a step backwards but a sign of healing — a thawing of what was once too painful to feel. You’ll learn how to hold space for grief, honour what was missing, and recognise that sadness and anger are valid parts of this process. Because feeling grief means you’re no longer abandoning yourself. You’re allowing what was exiled to be seen, held, and slowly released.

Lesson 7: Reparenting as Daily, Imperfect Care

Reparenting isn’t a one-time project. It’s a relationship you build with yourself — one tender, messy, courageous choice at a time. In this final lesson, we’ll reflect on what’s shifted, what still feels tender, and how to keep this work alive in your everyday life.

You’ll be invited to create a personal “reparenting anchor” — a phrase or reminder to help you return to self-trust when old patterns resurface. This is where the real work begins: choosing to show up for yourself again and again, imperfectly but consistently. You’re not starting over. You’re starting deeper.

Meet Abby

Hi, I’m Abby Rawlinson — a psychotherapist, author, and mum

Before becoming a therapist, I spent 15 years in the fast-paced world of media and marketing. I was high-achieving and good at pushing through. But underneath, I was anxious, exhausted, and stuck in quiet cycles of self-abandonment I didn’t yet have the language for.

Therapy - and later, training as a therapist - changed everything. Not just professionally, but personally. I began learning how to tune into my body, set boundaries, process old grief, and gently reparent the parts of me that had been left behind.

Now, through both my private practice and online work, I help others do the same.

I created this course because I know how much can shift when we start building a relationship with the child within — and how essential it is to involve the nervous system if we want those shifts to be lasting and embodied.

This isn’t just a course that tells you what inner child work is - I’ll guide you, step by step, through the tools and practices to help you actually do it. You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognise when your inner child is activated - and respond with care instead of self-criticism or shame.

  • Understand how your nervous system shapes your emotional responses - and start to gently shift long-held survival patterns.

  • Offer yourself the nurturing, protection, and play you may have missed growing up - so you can feel more steady, connected, and whole.

Credentials: I am a trauma-informed integrative therapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I hold a diploma in integrative counselling from the Minster Centre, one of Europe’s longest established and leading integrative psychotherapy and counselling training institutions.

In this course, I’ve distilled everything I’ve learned—through clinical training, personal experience, and years of studying psychotherapy, somatic work, and trauma theory—into an accessible, integrative approach. One that doesn’t just talk about healing, but helps you feel it in your body, your boundaries, and your daily life.
